Theodosia of Tyre
Why do you deceive yourself, and not perceive that I have found the thing which I prayed to obtain at your hands? For I rejoice greatly in having been deemed worthy to be admitted to the participation of the sufferings of God's martyrs. For indeed, for this very cause, I stood up and spoke with them, in order that by some means or other they might make me a sharer in their sufferings, so that I also might obtain a portion in the kingdom of heaven together with them. Because so long as I had no share in their sufferings, I could not be a partaker with them in their salvation. Behold therefore now, how, on account of the future recompense, I stand at present before you with great exultation, because I have obtained the means of drawing near to my God, even before those just men, whom but a little while ago I entreated to intercede for me.
St. Theodosius was a 17 year old Lebanese girl. She was beautiful. Her and other Catholics were brought before a tribunal. She asked the other Catholics to pray for her, and this ticked off governor Urbanus. So, he singled her out, because she was young and pretty, and ordered her to offer sacrifice. She refused to offer sacrifice in front of governor Urbanus. So, he had her tied to a post and tortured with iron combs to the point her organs were visible. She was visibly happy at this suffering and said the above when Urbanus spoke to her. This got the onlookers laughing. Urbanus got angrier and ordered her thrown into the sea where she met her end. His anger was spent on her, and so the other Catholics he simply ordered to work in the mines. This occurred on April 2, 307, in Caesarea.
Right away you can see the Mars-Venus conjunct: “Torture (Mars) Girl (Venus).” In late Pisces, it shows a particularly gruesome torture. The Mars-Venus conjunct is also opposing Neptune: “Girl (Venus) Killed (Mars) in Sea (Neptune).”
But, I’m not a fan of looking at transit charts by themselves. I want Theodosia’s chart. All we got is her age and place of birth. That gives us a few planets to work with: the outer planets.
Her Saturn is parallel transit Neptune and being opposed by it: “Dead at Sea”; Watery Grave”; “Bottom (Saturn) of Ocean (Neptune).” Her Saturn is also trining transit Uranus: “Torturtuous Death.” Her Uranus is conjunct the Moon: “Girl Tortured” or “View Torture.” Her Uranus is also in a 165 aspect (“Johndro aspect”) to the transitting Mars-Venus conjunct (as would be the transitting Moon): “Girl (Venus) Killed (Mars) and Tortured (Uranus).”
This was a quick one. I will be doing more ancient martyrs. The Church may not have their birthdates, but they always have their death dates.
