The Demon Star and St. Lydwine
L. Edward Johndro’s take on the stars are that stars amplify a planet’s energies. The stars do not have their own, unique energy. So, we must not read into the stars without first letting them speak for themselves. We must study cases. This is a contribution to that.
Johndro, actually uses Algol (“The Demon Star”) alot in his book. He is quite pedestrian with the infamous star, and I wonder if that was deliberate to seperate the star from its horrific attributions.
The bloody cases of the two stigmatists, St. Gemma and St. Lydwine both have Algol conjunct Pluto. However, they lived so many centuries apart that Algol is at different degrees on the two charts. 24 Taurus at a 0’ conjunct with Pluto for Gemma, 17 Taurus at a 1’55” conjunct with Pluto for Lydwine. But, both lives are heavily Plutonian. Algol does a powerful job of amplifying Pluto in both lives.
Pluto is associated with disease and demons. It is also keyworded, by Johndro, for “bedridden.” Both saints spent much of their lives bedridden. Lydwine lived her whole life in bed after an ice skating accident as a child (chart and article coming up). Both lived a life of disease. St. Lydwine is now understood to have had Multiple Sclerosis. Both also had many visits from demons. The other major attribution of Pluto is “mysticism.” Both were mystics living a paranormal life filled with visions and the mysterious (Pluto).
Lydwine’s Pluto is just past 15 degrees. At this degree, Taurus’ rulership shifts to Venus (“Fragrant” [Venus] Body [Earth element sign]”) which is in its sign, latter Taurus. The subrulership shifts to Jupiter. And then Neptune and finally Saturn. The subrulers are of mysticism and chastity and celibacy. The sentence can be produced: Confined (Saturn) Religious(Jupiter)/Celibate (Jupiter or Saturn) Mystic/Catholic (Neptune) Young Woman (Venus).
I will look at the aspects pertaining only to Pluto, on her chart. Pluto square Mars trine Uranus. Uranus semisextiles Mars. Squares are of Neptune and Mars in both arms. Mars is the East Planet, Pluto is the West Planet. “Bedridden (Pluto) from Ice (Neptune) Accident (Mars).” We also have “Mystical or Mysterious (Pluto/Neptune) Bloody Wounds (Mars), showing the stigmata. Remember, Algol is there at Pluto to amplify Pluto, just as it was for Gemma.
Pluto trine Uranus. The trine is of Mercury and Mars in the East, and Mercury and Uranus in the West. With this doubling of Mercury and Uranus in the aspect and planets combined with the malefics, we are seeing her multiple sclerosis. Uranus and Mercury are of the nerves (especially Uranus with the physical nerves). Pluto is degeneration. “Degenerating (Pluto) Nerves (Uranus).”
Uranus semisextile Mars. East Planet is Uranus and is thus of Mercury and Mars. West Planet is of Pluto and Neptune. This can also show the stigmata, as it is still a Uranus Mars aspect. Specifically, “Sudden (Uranus) Bloody (Mars) Mouth (Mercury) and Orifices/Holes (Pluto) Mysticism (Neptune).” This can also show her multiple sclerosis: Painful (Mars) Nerves (Uranus/Mercury) are a Mystical (Neptune) Torture (Mars).”
A QUICK LOOK AT GEMMA AND LYDWINE BIWHEEL
Gemma’s Neptune and Lydwine’s Sun are conjunct in Taurus. This shows there is something unique about this degree. Between 3 and 7 degrees Taurus is ruled by Mercury with Mars as the subruler and the tertiary ruler as Saturn. So, you have the two malefics ruling this degree. Taurus is an earth sign and earth is of the body. This shows the planetary influences are primarily of the body. Both have Pluto in Taurus where Pluto assaults their body.
Venus is also conjunct Gemma’ Pluto. Latter Taurus, past 22 degrees, is double subruled by Pluto. It is a difficult degree ruled by disease and demons and rot. Lydwine’s Venus is in its rulership (the last 15 degrees of Taurus are ruled by Venus). So, we have Venusian qualities in a Plutonian area. This is exemplified by St. Lydwine’s body being fragrant inspite of its literal falling apart. Parts of her body and organs would rot off her and have the odor of sanctity (a smell described as roses that holy beings have). I can’t think of a better mix of Venus and Pluto than a bedridden body rotting apart while smelling like flowers.
There is much more that can be said, but that is it for this article.
