Ordination of an Exorcist
Gabriele Amorth's ordination
Gabriele Amorth was ordained to the priesthood on January 24, 1951. I could not find information where he was ordained, so, I set the location as the Vatican. He was in Italy and worked alot in Rome, so, close enough for such a chart. (A locality chart will follow.) The chart is rectified to have the medium caeli conjunct his Juno (Priest).
Amorth’s Medium Caeli is at 6 Cancer. Mars, Neptune, Saturn. “Fighting/Brave (Mars) Catholic (Neptune) Priest (Saturn). With transit Uranus conjunct it for the ordination, we now have “Exorcise” on the MC. Uranus rules exorcisms. Keep in mind, Gabriele Amorth did not start practicing exorcisms until 1986, when he was the apprentice of the then head exorcist for the Vatican. So, we have indications at his ordination that he was to be an exorcist (not to mention on his natal chart, as I pointed out in my previous post on Amorth). Uranus is also parallel his Mars which is square his Uranus. Amorth’s Mars, as mentioned in the previous post, is powerfully placed for an exorcist. Transit Uranus also is opposing Mercury (coomunciation, profess, preach) which is on Amorth’s Imum Caeli.
We also see he was undergoing a lunar Return on his ordination. So, this was likely a highly emotional moment for him. It can also be heightened spiritual awareness. Many priests report a feeling of an energetic current at their ordination or an “opening up.” The priestly ordination is the continuation of a spiritual lineage direct from Jesus and the Apostles. The Apostles laid hands on their successors to ordain them, and those successors laid hands on thier successors to ordain them, and so on to the present day. The spiritual current has not ended since the time of the Apostles.
Transit Pluto is conjunct his Neptune, which is sextiling transit Neptune. By now, we all know Neptune is “Catholicism” as well as spirituality. Pluto is “mystery” as well as “demons.”
In transit, Jupiter and Mercury are in sextile to show “Profess (Mercury) Ordination (Jupiter)” or “Preacher (Mercury) Ordination (Jupiter).” Jupiter is also in trine with transit Uranus. “Ordain (Jupiter) Exorcist (Uranus).” Jupiter also trines his Saturn: “Ordain (Jupiter) Priest (Saturn); and trines his Pluto (since Amorth’s Pluto trines his Saturn, natally, showing priest who exorcises demons). “Mysteries (Pluto) of Ordination (Jupiter).” Jupiter also has associations with relgion and Godliness, and the like, for other possible word-combinations. “Religious Mysteries” could be another read for the Jupiter-Pluto aspect. Since Amorth’s Pluto is at 11 Cancer, ruled by Mars, we can have “Religious/Ordain (Jupiter) Fighter (Mars) of Demons (Pluto).”
Gabriele Amorth did not gain his position as an exorcist until his mentor died in 1992. His mentor died on September 22, 1992. We do not know whether Amorth was appointed that day. It’s unlikely. So, we cannot build a transit chart for that day. But, we can progress his chart to that day to get an idea of what was going on for him during that time, broadly. Secondary progressions do not move much, day to day. But can show the flavor of the time period.
Gabriele’s Sun is in 15 Cancer, now, conjunct Pluto, in the 9th House. The Sun’s degree placement reads: “Catholic (Neptune) Priest (Saturn) Life (Sun) Figthing (Mars) Demons (Pluto) and Hell (Pluto).” Mercury, Venus, and Mars are in the 10th House, Leo, in a stellium between 4 and 7 Leo. Leo in these degrees is heavily Mercurial and ruled by Mars. At this time, Amorth was already writing his first two books (“An Exorcist Tells His Story” and “An Exorcist: More Stories”). So, these planets in progression communicate (Mercury): “Writing (Mercury) Books (Mercury) of Battles (Mars).” His progressed Mercury is also parallel his progressed Pluto (now at 13 Cancer): “Writing (Mercury) of Battling (Mars/Cancer/Leo) Demons (Pluto).” So, the Secondary Progressed chart for this time show Amorth beginning his career as an exorcist and author.
Creating a Johndro chart, to show the Vatican’s influence Amorth, places his Mars in the 10th House and moves his medium caeli to be conjunct it. 22-24 Gemini, as stated previously, shows an Artful (Venus) Catholic (Neptune) Exorcist (Uranus). The significance is that the Johndro chart is showing the Vatican as having him be a career (Medium Caeli and 10th House) exorcist.
