Feast of St. Gemma
Gemma's death anniversary.
Today is St. Gemma’s feast day. Feast days are the death anniversaries of the canonized saints. Only canonized saints have them, because a canonization is what puts a saint on the liturgical calendar. Thus, some church’s may perform a mass invoking Gemma Galgani today.
After death, transits still apply to a chart. If an event regarding a deceased happens, you will often find a significant transit to their natal chart. For a death anniversary, you have a solar return to that death. Some astrologers consider the death chart, the new natal chart of the deceased. I haven’t seen that, but rather find both charts to have their uses.
On Gemma’s death chart, today’s solar return includes a transiting Mercury conjunct to her Sun. Thus, people speaking (Mercury) of her life (Sun). Chiron is also (and has been) conjunct her Death Sun and Mercury. So, communication of her life and transformation and the like.
Because her natal Sun is less than two degrees off her Death Sun, these feast days also mean a semisextile to her Sun. Today, it is a o degree orb. As well as that Mercury. And of course, both are semisextiling her Saturn. Again, this is a light on her life and suffering and communicating about it (Sun + Mercury on her Sun and Saturn).
This is simply a quick post to show how feast days work astrologically. They are solar returns for the death of saints.
